Dan Berry

Dan joined H+K Smarter in 2016 from the UK Government Department of Health.

Over the previous four years he set up and led the behavioral insights team in the Department of Health and then in NHS England.

Dan has run more than a dozen behavioral evaluations in health. These include innovative and low-cost strategies to improve medications adherence and waste reduction.

There are few people more experienced at applying behavioral insights to such practical and tangible challenges. Several of Dan’s trials have been published in respected academic journals, including The Lancet. In 2014, Dan was winner of the UK Government’s Social Research Award for research “of high quality that is innovative and demonstrates practical value”. In 2016 he won the Marketing Research Society award for healthcare research.

Dan holds an MSc in public policy from University College London and a BA from the University of Warwick.
